The information we collect

Information you give us directly

This includes information you provide when you:

  • contact us through our contact form, by email or by phone (for example your name, email address, phone number and the details of your message);
  • place an order in our online shop (for example your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and order details);
  • book a class, workshop or event (for example your name, contact details, the class you choose, and any accessibility needs or group details you share with us);
  • sign up for our newsletter or marketing emails (for example your name and email address); or
  • create an account or otherwise correspond with us.

Payment information

When you make a purchase, your payment is handled by our third-party payment gateway at our WooCommerce checkout. Your full card details are collected and processed by that gateway and are not stored by us. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last few digits of your card and the billing name and address.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, the site you came from, and how you use our site. We collect this using cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies and analytics” below).

We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not send it to us unless it is necessary, for example an accessibility requirement relevant to a class booking.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • process, fulfil and deliver your orders, and provide receipts and order updates;
  • take and manage class, workshop and event bookings, including rescheduling and cancellations;
  • respond to your enquiries, requests and feedback;
  • send you our newsletter and marketing messages where you have consented, and let you opt out at any time;
  • operate, maintain, secure and improve our website, products and services;
  • detect and prevent fraud, and protect our customers, our business and the public; and
  • meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

We will only use your information for the purposes described here, or for a purpose a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, unless we obtain your consent to use it for another purpose.

Consent

In most cases we collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent. Depending on the sensitivity of the information, your consent may be express (for example, when you opt in to our newsletter) or implied (for example, when you place an order and we use your address to ship it). You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may mean we are unable to provide certain products or services.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences, keep your shopping cart, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Some cookies are necessary for the site and checkout to function; others help us with analytics and marketing.

Our online shop runs on WooCommerce (on WordPress), which sets cookies needed for the store and checkout. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. Where required, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our business, and as described below.

  • Service providers. We share information with trusted third parties who provide services for us, such as our website host and ecommerce platform (WooCommerce, on WordPress), our payment gateway, shipping and delivery companies, our email and newsletter platform, and our analytics providers. They are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
  • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information where required by law, regulation or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, our business or others.
  • Business transfers. If our business is sold or reorganized, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, in which case your information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, including to meet legal, accounting, tax and reporting requirements. When we no longer need it, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to keep our safeguards current.

Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent to our use of your information; and
  • unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time, using the link in each email or by contacting us.

To make a request, contact us using the details in this policy. We may need to verify your identity before we respond, and we will respond within the time required by law.

Marketing emails

If you have signed up for our newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message or by contacting us. Our marketing emails are sent in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Children’s privacy

Our website and shop are intended for adults, and our classes have a minimum age (please see the Classes page). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Links to other websites

Our website may link to third-party sites, such as our social media pages or our booking platform. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
